GIDS Whistleblower Marcus Evans: Why I quit the Tavistock

  • Reading time:2 mins read

Marcus Evans explains in his article for Quillette why he felt compelled to resign as a Governor at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust, which runs the Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS), the NHS’s only gender identity clinic for children, over the treatment pathways and ideological drive behind the push for the medicalisation of gender distressed children and young people. He was particularly concerned that the report by Dr David Bell, highlighting some serious problems with the way GIDS was operating, was being dismissed so readily.

I have learned, through long experience with managing clinical areas in the National Health Service, that such efforts to dismiss or discredit serious concerns about a service or clinical approach typically are driven by those seeking to evade accountability and shield their methods from criticism.

Marcus Evans was also interviewed for podcast Triggernometry, and mainstream media news coverage.
